Who Are We?
NWRS was started by Deniz Terek and Will Morris.
As massive fans of motorsports and cars in general, we always wanted more time behind the wheel. When growing up, the only way we could “drive” a car, was through a video game. As we got older, our games became more realistic, and you could use a steering wheel to control the virtual car. This was a revelation for us, and allowed us to put ourselves in the driver’s seat of any vehicle without risk of injury or bankruptcy. As games got more realistic, and the physics calculations more demanding, people started building dedicated simulators for racing. Simulators moved from a simple steering wheel plugged into a game console, to a full setup requiring a high-spec computer to power everything.
As sim racers who spend a lot of time on our personal sims, it is blatantly evident how realistic they are the moment we get behind the wheel of a real race-car on track. Not only are the racing lines in the sim identical to those on the real track, but all the techniques are identical. From trailbraking to catching the car, all the reflexes that were honed in the sim translate directly to real world skills.
This direct translation of driving skills led us to starting Northwest Racing Simulators. Typical racing sims require a level of commitment and computer knowledge which act as a barrier-to-entry for most people. Our goal was to create a racing simulator without those barriers. A racing simulator that anyone can operate and doesn’t require constant maintenance.
